Kidney foundation walk-a-thon

On Saturday June 25, 2011 International Banking Group hosted its inaugural walk-a-thon to raise funds for the Turks and Caicos Islands Kidney Foundation. The walk-a-thon commenced at 5:30 a.m. from the International Banking Group parking lot, to the Connolly round-a-bout and back, spanning approximately 4.6 miles. With over two hundred and fifty registrants IBG considered the walk-a-thon was a success. Thanks to registration fees from participants and donations from individuals unable to walk, a total of $4,500 was raised from the event for the Kindney Foundation. “International Banking Group’s decision to organise this event is as a result of our awareness of the needs within our community,” said Kenny Bovell, General Manager. “We were extremely pleased with the response and level of registrations, and are happy to support an event that encourages our community to also adopt a healthy lifestyle,” he added. In addition to the funds, unused breakfast items and water were donated to the Enid Capron Primary School in Five Cays, the Bethany Baptist’s outreach programme and the Providenciales Children’s Home. |
